Restorative and General Dentistry
Restorative dentistry is the art of restoring your teeth to their healthy teeth and replacing missing or broken teeth. If you are interested in seeking restorative treatments please contact Today’s Family Dental for a consultation. Our Lutz Dental office wants to match the best option for you.
Crowns
If the form and function of your teeth are compromised, then crowns will restore the tooth to it’s natural state. The first thing we do is take impressions of your teeth to create a temporary crown. Then we will shape your tooth to remove the damaged portion and create room for the crown to be placed. Once the temporary crown is ready, it will be placed on your tooth so adjustments can be made before you have your permanent crown placed. These adjustments are vital to ensuring you are a 100% comfortable and confident with your crown. All adjustments will also be applied to your permanent restorations that is expertly crafted in our trusted labs.
Inlays And Onlays
If the trauma of your teeth has resulted in a great depleasion but the core structure of the tooth is still stable Inlays and Onlays are a solution. Our labs can create the matching missing pieces with porcelain. Those will be bonded to the tooth, restoring your teeth to their natural form and function. This reduces the grinding required, sustaining minimal damage to the nerves in the tooth. We recommend Inlays and Onlays instead of traditional fillings because of their durability.
Bridges
Crowns are a solution to missing teeth by taking advantage of the surrounding teeth. By creating molds that are shaped to match the adjacent teeth we “suspend” the missing tooth in its spot by utilizing the surrounding teeth for support. This is the second best choice for most patients after implants.
Dentures
For patients missing multiple teeth partial dentures are a sensible solution. They are not as ideal as implants but they do offer our patients the opportunity to restore their smile.
Root Canal Therapy
If the nerve of your tooth is exposed as a result of decay or fracture the healthy state of the tooth can be maintained by removing the nerve of the tooth. Root canal therapy saves your tooth and allows to repair the damage. To fully understand the procedure we recommend watching the “Root Canal” video on our patient education page and the “Progression of Decay” and “Single Crown (impressions)” as supporting videos.
Color Filings
Composite fillings are a very effective solution to cavities to restore form and function while ideally matching the natural shade of your teeth. We begin by removing the damaged area of the tooth to prevent further damage. Once the area is fully prepared we apply a bonding agent for the composite to attach to the tooth. The composite is then layered to restore the tooth to its natural shape.
